Just like it says in the title.

My 17" Trinitron monitor bit the big one so I plunked down some of my extra change on a 19" CRT. Now everything looks just a bit grainy. Now is everything "grainy" because I've gotten used to viewing a flat screen or is the monitor just dodgy? Or is it because I'm just really picky about things because my wife claims not to notice?

You may very well have gotten too used to the flatscreen.

My wife just got a nice 17" Phillips flatscreen CRT, the first couple of days she thought that the screen looked awefully wierd - and it did, but only because she was so used to the normal "curved" screen.

I'd give it a day or two just till things settles in
(or just keep on nagging about it, your wife will eventually give in)

Yep, I think you may be right because I'm not noticing it as much as when I first turned it on. I'm not sure if I WANT to get used to it though.

Just remember: You're wife is always right....even if she's not
Maybe you should give her the monitor and get yourself a new one?

When I went from a 17" to a  19", I had to bump up the res before it looked right to me.

I just went to a 21 inch....not grainy but there have been some spots of the screen with focus problems(they are working on it)it was used,200 bucks.

The grains appear to be smoothing out so I guess the monitor is repairing itself (wink wink)

I also remembered that my video card supports duel display so I am now squeezing every bit of life that I can out of my old 17.

Two screens are a freakin' trip, man!!!

Yep....if I had an extra one, thats what I'd be doing.

dual 19's here and not any issues of focus or clarity, actually much better than the ViewSonic 18 inch Flats we have

LaCie rocks

What display manager are you using? The one that came with the card, Hydravision, appears to suck large quantities of butt. I'm testing out Ultramon right now but it's lacking some features that I'd like to see. Like start buttons on both screens.

5700 FX Ultra and the updates off the driver site is all.

Okay, the picture quality was unacceptable so I took it back and traded it in for a 19" Trinitron.

And this is why I hate purchasing monitors....

The picture quality seems fine but the borders around the visible area appear to be blue and when the screensaver activates, the background that should be black is also blue. Any suggestions, other than lugging this thing back to the shop and getting another one?

Forget I said anything. Found the setting I needed.

Carry on...

missed the update.

You did remind me that I need to get a URL from Randy so I can check out some software for multi display control... I forgot to do it right away and things kind of piled up on me.
